Leguizamo lays it bare for anyone that comes along for the ride.
John Leguizamo’s first solo shows, Mambo Mouth and Spic-O-Rama, became off-Broadway sensations. The next two—Freak and Sexaholix—hit Broadway before being made into successful films. Leguizamo has been seen in countless movies including Casualties of War, Dr. Doolittle, Moulin Rouge, Summer of Sam and William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet.

Westbeth Entertainment and Henson Alternative proudly announce the New York debut of STUFFED AND UNSTRUNG, a live uncensored show that lets loose the perilous and provocative elements of comedic improvisation on stage with a bunch of puppets. Created by award-winning director, producer, writer and performer Brian Henson and actor and improvisational guru Patrick Bristow, this one-of-a-kind comedy performance is set for a special 10-week limited engagement kicking off Wednesday, March 17 at the Union Square Theatre.

STUFFED AND UNSTRUNG is a madcap multimedia romp in which the skilled art of puppetry and comedic intelligent nonsense collide. Unpredictable, irreverent and rebellious, it’s never the same show twice as a team of expert puppeteers sets off on a trail of twisted sketches and songs at breakneck pace while interaction with the audience prompts the spontaneous storylines developing on stage.
STUFFED AND UNSTRUNG has evolved from Henson’s previous production “Puppet Up! – Uncensored,” which made its debut at the 2006 HBO Comedy Festival (Aspen, CO), and later toured the 2006 Edinburgh Festival (Edinburgh, Scotland), The 2007 Comedy Festival (Las Vegas, NV) and Australia’s Sydney Big Laugh Comedy Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (both 2007). Most recently, Puppet Up continued to be workshopped at monthly performances at Avalon Hollywood. The New York engagement of STUFFED AND UNSTRUNG marks the debut of a completely revamped production featuring all new technical wizardry and original music and staging.

[Untitled Streb Project] is a new theatrical movement extravaganza created by John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Genius Grant recipient, choreographer Elizabeth Streb. Streb's form of daredevil action harnesses the invisible forces of gravity, friction, velocity, and momentum to tell the story of a renegade group of young movers and thinkers. When you risk believing everything is possible, you can do anything – you can change your life, and you can even fly.
HISTORY OF STREB:
Founded in 1979, STREB tours extensively throughout the United States and internationally presenting performances and residencies and conducts year-round activity at its home studio/laboratory, the STREB ACTION INVENTION LAB, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
STREB opened the ACTION LAB in January 2003. Housed in a former warehouse, the ACTION LAB is the company’s creative and educational center where new productions are mounted, classes for children and adults are taught in the POP ACTION School and all company activities – rehearsals, demonstrations, workshops – are open to the public.
The company is committed to presenting its work in traditional and non-traditional venues and has been seen in public spaces throughout New York and across the country in such venues as Vanderbilt Hall in New York’s Grand Central Terminal, the Winter Garden of the World Financial Center in New York, in front of the Cyclone at Coney Island, on the mall outside the Smithsonian Institution, during a Minneapolis Twins and New York Yankees game at the Minnesota Metrodome, in the Anchorage under the Brooklyn Bridge, during intermission of the International Squash Tournament finals and at the State of Illinois Center in Chicago.
The company has received numerous awards including annual support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts and the NY City Department of Cultural Affairs. The Rutles were first immortalized on screen by semi-legendary Monty Python alum Eric Idle, and Saturday Night Live Lorne Michaels in the 1978 Classic mockumentary “All You Need is Cash” (available on DVD from Broadway Video) and re-immortalized in the sequel, “Can’t Buy Me Lunch.” These ground-breaking films began an entire genre of mockumentary film making.

MARGARET CHO: The Sensuous Woman (2007)
Margaret Cho brought her new variety show The Sensuous Woman to the Zipper Theater. The Sensuous Woman featureed an impressive line-up of the country's most renowned burlesque performers along with hilarious stand-up and sketch comedy from emerging and established artists. Featured performers included emerging transgendered comic Ian Harvie, the ingenious burlesque performer Selene Luna, comic actor Liam Sullivan, New York downtown favorite Miss Dirty Martini, Los Angeles belly dance and burlesque sensation Princess Farhana, and sketch comedians Diana Yanez and Kurt Hall of the Gay Mafia Comedy Troupe of West Hollywood, all presided over by the incomparable Margaret Cho.
It was a sexy and seductive evening of entertainment with a finale that had everyone talking!

Write Aid was presented by WestBeth Entertainment, members of the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild of America. It featured Eddie Izzard, Lewis Black, Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, and Tenacious D with Jack Black and Kyle Gass. All proceeds of the benefit went to the Motion Picture and
Television Fund, which provided "crisis assistance" for entertainment industry workers during the Writers Guild Strike.

The Oscar nominated composer of "Good Will Hunting" had been performing at the WestBeth for years in the CMJ Music Festival when he did his solo show there in 1999. Later that year, WestBeth Theatre Center also produced Elliott to sold out crowds at Town Hall. Before his death in 2003, Elliott went on to become the recording industry's hottest Indie-rocker, with songs featured in such blockbuster movies as "Keeping the Faith," "American Beauty" and "The Royal Tenenbaums."
